On top of the Magog Hills, just south of Cambridge, Wandlebury is the city’s original country park. With views as far as Ely, this tranquil countryside estate offers more than eight miles of wonderful walks through mature woodland and wildflower meadows grazed by Highland Cattle. A large part of the park is on the remains of a circular historic Iron Age Hillfort – a Scheduled Ancient Monument steeped in myth and legend. The Country Park is owned and cared for by local charity Cambridge Past Present Future. There is always something to do at Wandlebury. It is a beautiful setting for a picnic or a BBQ, to watch wildlife, build a den, have a gentle stroll or a strenuous hike. Take part in events and activities for all ages (including our award winning education programme) and learn about the site’s fascinating Iron Age history and the Godolphin Arabian horses.

My two dogs love it when we head out to Wandlebury. Lovely long country walks with some great views too. The charity that runs this and other sites are doing a great job trying to protect our countryside.
